The Way to Truth

Monday (3/10/25)

Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to myself, so that where I am you may be also. You know the way to where I am going.” “Lord,” Thomas said, “we don’t know where you’re going. How can we know the way?” Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:1-6)

Devotional:
Jesus does not just point to the way; He is the way. He is not offering a self-help strategy or a spiritual buffet where you take what you like and leave the rest. He is making an exclusive claim when He says, "No one comes to the Father except through Me." That means all our attempts at being good enough, all our self-made identities, and all the things we chase after to give our lives meaning apart from Him do not work. They are counterfeit gods that promise life but leave us empty.

And let’s be honest, our culture hates this. The world is constantly shouting, "You do you! Live your truth! Define reality on your terms!" But Jesus does not give us that option. He says, "I am the truth." Not one of many truths. Not a truth that shifts with the tide of culture or bends to make us comfortable. The truth. That means when our thoughts, desires, or decisions clash with His word, we are the ones who need to change.

So, let’s take a moment to be real. Where are you trying to redefine truth in your life? Maybe it is a habit you know is not honoring to God, but you have convinced yourself it is not that bad. Maybe you are walking through a storm, and instead of trusting Him, you are leaning on your own wisdom. Whatever it is, surrender it. Lay it down at His feet today. Ask Him to reshape your heart and align your mind with His truth, even when it is hard. Because in the end, life is only found in Him.

Prayer: Lord, reveal the areas where I’m tempted to believe lies instead of trusting in Your truth. Help me to surrender my plans, my opinions, and my heart fully to You. Amen.
