“Lord, to whom will we go? You have the words of eternal life.” - John 6:60-69

Following Jesus isn’t for the faint of heart. In John 6, the crowds were thrilled when Jesus was multiplying bread. But when He started talking about eating His flesh and drinking His blood, they checked out.

Here’s the truth: we all love a Jesus who heals us and feeds us. But a Jesus who calls us to die? That’s another story.

When the crowd left, Peter didn’t. Not because he understood everything Jesus said, but because he knew the truth: “Where else would we go? You have the words of eternal life.”

Peter doesn’t say, “This is easy.” He says, “You are enough.” And that’s discipleship—following when it’s hard, when it’s confusing, when it costs you.

Reflection Questions:
  • Are you following Jesus only when it’s convenient?
  • What part of Jesus’ teaching do you struggle to embrace?

Identify a difficult teaching of Jesus (forgiveness, generosity, holiness) and meditate on it today. Instead of resisting it, lean into it with humility.

Prayer:
Jesus, You alone have the words of life. Keep me from walking away when Your words challenge me. Give me the faith to stay, knowing that You are enough. Amen.
