Held by Nail-Scarred Hands

I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. - John 10:28

When we're overwhelmed by fear and anxiety, we often focus on what we need to do: try harder, pray more, have stronger faith. But the heart of God's message to us in our fear isn't about our performance—it's about His promise to hold onto us. In Isaiah 41:10, God doesn't just tell us not to fear; He gives us the reason: "I will hold onto you with my righteous right hand." This isn't a casual gesture but a fierce, protective grip. The God who created the universe promises to personally hold onto you when you feel like you're falling apart. And the hands that hold you? They're nail-scarred. They've already reached through death itself to grab hold of you. The cross isn't just a historical event; it's the ultimate proof that God will go to any length to keep you secure in His love. When Jesus says in John 10:28 that no one can snatch us from His hand, He's not making a theoretical point—He's promising that His grip on us is stronger than our grip on Him. On days when your faith feels weak and your fears feel strong, remember: your security doesn't depend on how tightly you're holding onto God, but on how tightly He's holding onto you. Today, rest in the assurance that you are held by hands that will never let you go.

Reflection Question
How does knowing that God is holding onto you (rather than you needing to hold onto Him) change your perspective on your current fears and anxieties?

You don't have to be enough for God to act and move in your life. You just need to ask God to hold you. And the hands that are holding you, they're nail scarred. Because the cross doesn't just prove that God loves you, it proves that he'll never leave you.

Prayer
Father, thank you for your promise to hold me securely. When my faith feels weak and my fears feel overwhelming, help me remember that my security rests in your grip, not mine. Thank you for the nail-scarred hands that prove your commitment to never let me go. I rest in your hold today. Amen
