Divine Redirection, Not Rejection

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." - Romans 8:28

When doors close in our faces or prayers seem to go unanswered, it's easy to interpret these experiences as divine rejection. We wonder if God has forgotten us or if we've somehow fallen out of favor. But what if these apparent setbacks are actually setups for something better? Closed doors aren't rejections—they're redirections. Unanswered prayers aren't evidence of God's absence but confirmation of His sovereignty. He sees what we cannot see and knows what we cannot know. In Romans 8:28, Paul assures us that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him. This promise doesn't guarantee that everything will feel good in the moment, but it does guarantee that everything will ultimately work together for our good and God's glory. When we're waiting and nothing seems to be happening, we have a choice: we can fix our eyes on where we want to be, or we can fix our eyes on the One who holds the outcome. The first option leads to frustration; the second leads to formation. The real gift in the waiting room isn't what we're waiting for—it's who we're becoming while we wait.

Reflection Question
What closed door or unanswered prayer in your past can you now recognize as God's protection or redirection toward something better?

We act like unanswered prayers are proof that God's ignoring us, but they're proof that He's God and you're not. Closed doors and no's aren't rejection, they're divine redirection.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me to trust Your redirections when doors close. Give me faith to believe that Your "no" is protection, not punishment. When I can't trace Your hand, help me to trust Your heart. Thank You for working all things—even disappointments—together for my good. Amen.
