Rest Looks Like Being With Him
“Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest... You will find rest for your souls.” - Matthew 11:28–30
“You will keep the mind that is dependent on You in perfect peace, for it is trusting in You.” - Isaiah 26:3–4
“Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God… will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 4:6–7
Let’s be honest—we’ve all tried to rest, and still ended up tired. You take a day off. You binge a show. You scroll for hours. You nap. And afterward? Still restless. Because real rest isn’t just about stopping—it’s about where you go when you stop. Rest, the kind your soul actually needs, doesn’t come from escape. It comes from presence. From God’s presence.
Jesus isn’t offering you a break. He’s offering Himself. The invitation isn’t, “Go chill out.” It’s, “Come to Me.” There’s something holy that happens when you pause just long enough to remember who He is and who you are to Him. Not striving. Not fixing. Just being.
And look, this world doesn’t make that easy. Everything around us screams, “Go faster!” But trust isn’t proven by your pace. It’s proven by your pause. Today, choose to be still—not because everything is calm, but because He is. Rest isn’t a destination. It’s a Person. And He’s already here, waiting.
Reflection Questions
Prayer
God, I’m tired of rushing past You. I want to learn how to stop—not just physically, but in my soul. Help me create space to just be with You. Quiet my heart. Clear the noise. Remind me that being with You is enough. Amen.
