Who’s Really Leading Your Life?
“This is what the Lord says: Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.” - Jeremiah 6:16
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; in all your ways know Him, and He will make your paths straight.” - Proverbs 3:5–6
“Present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship. Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” - Romans 12:1–2
Here’s the thing—sometimes our exhaustion has nothing to do with our schedules.
It’s not the busy calendar or the long to-do list that’s draining us.
It’s who we’re serving.
We don’t always say it out loud, but many of us have picked up some pretty brutal taskmasters:
But Jesus offers a better way. He says, “Come walk with Me. I’ll carry what you can’t. I’ll lead you with gentleness, not guilt.” Following Jesus doesn’t mean your life gets easier—it means you stop carrying the weight of it alone. His yoke is easy not because life is, but because He’s in it with you. So today, slow down. Stand at the crossroads. And ask yourself—who’s really leading me right now? Is it Jesus? Or is it fear? Perfection? Control?
Because the one you follow will always shape the life you live.
Reflection Questions
You’re not exhausted because life is hard. You’re exhausted because you’ve yoked yourself to a master who won’t let you rest.
Prayer
Jesus, I’ve been following things that don’t love me back. Things that drive me, use me, and leave me empty. But You’re different. You’re gentle. You’re kind. You carry what I can’t. So today, I’m choosing to let You lead. Help me stay in step with You. Amen.

We don’t always say it out loud, but many of us have picked up some pretty brutal taskmasters:
- The need to be perfect.
- The obsession with control.
- The pressure to make everyone happy.
- The fear of disappointing people.
- The unspoken belief that we are only as valuable as we are productive.

Reflection Questions
- What "false masters" are you currently yoked to (perfectionism, control, fear, etc.)?
- What would it look like today to trust Jesus instead—practically, not just spiritually?
