When God Knocks

"But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." – Romans 5:8

It is easy to misunderstand someone’s intentions. You might think a friend is upset when they are actually concerned. You might see a warning as a threat when it is really an act of care. The same thing can happen with God’s warnings in Scripture. Some people hear a strong warning and assume God is angry and ready to reject them. But in reality, His warnings are not about shutting you out. They are about waking you up.

Hebrews 6:4-6 is one of the most sobering warnings in the Bible. It speaks about people who have been exposed to God’s truth but turn away. At first, it might sound like the words of a harsh judge slamming the door. But if you listen closely, you hear something different. You hear the knock of mercy. God is calling you to examine where you stand with Him. He is urging you to move from knowing about Him to truly knowing Him.

Warnings in Scripture are invitations in disguise. They are God’s way of saying, “Do not settle for pretending. Come all the way in. Be mine for real.” They are not meant to scare genuine believers into thinking they are lost. They are meant to shake those who are drifting so they can see the danger and come home.

Today, hear His knock. If you have been keeping God at a distance, let Him in fully. If you have been unsure where you stand, ask Him to give you clarity. The God who warns is the same God who saves, and His arms are open wide.

Reflection Question
How have you responded to God’s warnings in the past? With avoidance, hesitation, or surrender?

God’s warnings are not slammed doors. They are open hands calling you to come home.

Prayer
Loving Father, thank You for caring enough to warn me when I am in danger. Help me to hear Your warnings as invitations, not rejections. I open my heart to You today. Take all of me and make me Yours completely. Amen.
