The Perfect Sacrifice
"For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins." – Hebrews 10:4
The sacrificial system was always a shadow. A pointer. A whisper of something greater. Every animal laid on the altar was a sermon—preaching that sin brings death, and that blood is required. But none of those sacrifices could actually remove sin. They were placeholders. Until Jesus came. The final sacrifice. The perfect Lamb. The blood of bulls and goats couldn’t cleanse a guilty conscience—but the blood of Christ can.
When Jesus said, “It is finished,” He didn’t mean He was finished—He meant the work was. The striving. The sacrificing. The rituals. All of it found its fulfillment in Him. So you don’t need to keep offering up guilt-driven sacrifices—your tears, your promises to do better. What you need is to look to the cross where Jesus died once for all.
Reflection Question:
Are you trusting in Jesus’ final sacrifice, or are you still trying to earn your forgiveness?
Remember, when you see Jesus as the Lamb who was slain, your shame loses its power, and grace becomes more than a word—it becomes your identity.
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for being the perfect sacrifice. Thank You that I don’t have to live under the weight of unfinished penance. You’ve paid it all. Help me trust fully in Your finished work, and live in the freedom it purchased. In Your name, Amen.
