Breaking Down Barriers

"At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split." – Matthew 27:51

Before Jesus, access to God was restricted. Only the high priest could enter the Holy of Holies, and only once a year. But when Jesus died, that thick curtain in the temple—the one separating humanity from God’s presence—was torn in two from top to bottom. That wasn’t coincidence; it was divine declaration. The barrier is gone. No more need for sacrifices, intermediaries, or rituals to get to God. Through Jesus, we are invited into the presence of the Holy One, fully known, fully loved, and fully welcomed. So why do we still live like the curtain is up? Fear, shame, or performance-based thinking can still make us feel far from God. But friend, the way has already been made. You are free to enter boldly.

Reflection Question
Are you living like the curtain is still there? What areas of your life do you still try to “earn” your way to God?

When Jesus said, It is finished, that veil in the temple didn't just tear, it ruptured. God obliterated the barrier.

Prayer
God, thank You for giving me full access to You through Jesus. Help me stop striving and start abiding. Teach me to live like the barrier is truly gone. Amen.
