Making Heaven Crowded

Romans 10:14 - "How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?"

Here’s the thing—eternity is real. And people are heading into it every day. I know that’s heavy, but we have to let the weight of it hit us. Heaven and hell aren’t abstract theological concepts. They’re real destinations with eternal consequences.

And here’s what absolutely wrecks me: God, in His infinite wisdom, has chosen to involve us—broken, flawed, inconsistent people—in His rescue mission. Think about that. The God of the universe could split the skies, send angels down, and audibly preach the gospel. But instead, He sends you. He sends me. We are His plan A. And there is no plan B.

In Matthew 28, Jesus doesn’t give the disciples a pep talk and then tell them to hang tight in their holy huddles. He sends them. Go. Make disciples. Baptize them. Teach them. And in Romans 10, Paul drives it home even further: people can’t believe in the gospel unless they hear it, and they can’t hear it unless someone tells them.

So let me ask you: when was the last time you had a genuine conversation with someone about their eternity? Not just casual spiritual talk. I mean a real, intentional, “Hey, I care about your soul” kind of conversation. I’m not talking about being pushy or weird. I’m talking about being so convinced of the goodness of the gospel—and so burdened by the reality of eternity—that you refuse to stay silent.

You know what’s heartbreaking? We’re often more bold about restaurant recommendations and Netflix shows than we are about the only message that has the power to rescue someone from eternal separation from God. We treat it like it’s optional—like it’s a hobby. But listen: it’s not. It’s life or death.

And here’s the beautiful part—when you share the gospel, you’re not responsible for the results. That’s God’s job. You’re just called to be faithful. To plant the seed. To have the conversation. To extend the invitation. The Holy Spirit does the heavy lifting of changing hearts. You just show up and open your mouth.

One day, you’re going to stand before the throne of God. And I can promise you this: you will never regret the conversations you had about Jesus. You will never wish you had played it safer or kept your faith to yourself. So let’s live with some gospel urgency, church. Let’s make heaven crowded.

Reflection Questions:
  • When was the last time you shared the gospel with someone?
  • Is there anyone in your life right now whom God is pressing on your heart to reach out to?
  • What’s holding you back from having gospel-centered conversations?

This week, identify one person who doesn’t know Jesus and intentionally engage them with the gospel. It could be a conversation, an invitation to church, or simply sharing your story. Whatever it is, step out boldly and trust God with the results.

Prayer:
Lord, give me Your heart for the lost. Let me feel the weight of eternity—not in a way that paralyzes me, but in a way that moves me to action. Give me boldness, compassion, and wisdom to share Your gospel with urgency and love. And use me, God, to make heaven crowded—one soul at a time. Amen.
