Love That Never Ends
"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." – 1 Corinthians 13:13
Every quality Paul describes in 1 Corinthians 13—patience, kindness, humility, truthfulness—points toward one staggering truth: love is eternal. Faith and hope are vital in this life, but when Christ returns, faith will become sight and hope will be fulfilled. Yet love will continue forever, because love is the very essence of God Himself.
Think about that for a moment. All our achievements, reputations, possessions, and even spiritual gifts will eventually fade. The one thing that will remain is love. This means that every act of love we practice now isn’t wasted; it’s a preview of eternity. Love is not just an ethic to live by, but the atmosphere of heaven itself. When you forgive someone, serve someone, or speak truth with compassion, you’re participating in something eternal.
This perspective changes everything. Love is not just a nice idea for good relationships—it’s the legacy you’ll carry into eternity. Our culture measures success by power, wealth, or recognition. Scripture measures success by love. On the day we stand before Christ, He won’t ask how many followers we had, how big our house was, or how much influence we gained. He’ll look at how we loved.
Today, ask God to help you live with eternity in view. Let your legacy not be measured by what you built for yourself but by how you loved others in His name. Faith and hope prepare us for heaven, but love lets us taste it now.
Reflection Question
What would change in your daily priorities if you truly believed that love is the only thing that lasts forever?
"Faith and hope are temporary, but love is eternal. When all else fades, love remains, because love is the very heartbeat of God."
Prayer
Father, thank You that Your love never ends. Teach me to value what is eternal over what is temporary. Help me to love like Jesus—not for recognition or reward, but because it reflects who You are. May the legacy of my life not be wealth or success, but love that points others to You. Amen.
